Body Building
Not everyone that is interested in body building has a desire to enter into competition. That is defiantly not my goal. However, after losing a few pounds I quickly changed my diet and exercise routine one for building muscle. Basically, I wanted a lean but larger build.
Is a diet and exercise program designed for building muscle the right one for you?
-Do you want to build big muscles?
-Are you interested in enter a competition?
-You desire to have a lean, ripped body.
-After losing weight, you have a desire to really tone your physique
-Strength is a very important factor to you.
-You hope to one day look like one of the people you have seen in some of the fitness magazine.
Most guys dream about having a ripped, lean, muscular body. I know I do. You have to understand to obtain that type of body you have to put in a lot of time and effort. Don't let that discourage you. I just don't want you to think that you can go out and purchase some "wonder" supplement, spend a couple months in the gym, and be ready to compete. It is just not that easy.
There are a lot of ads in magazines for products that will help you build muscle. And of course it is done in a unbelievably short period of time. Although many of the products on the market are very good ones, outrageous claims and hype is what sales those products.
There are a few things that you should understand about bodybuilding and body builders in general. Many people give up on their goals because they get discouraged. They seem to feel like they are never going to look like the guy in the magazine.
It is important that you read the following if you plan to start or have started a lean muscle building program.
1. Body builders don't always look the way they do in the
magazines.
These individuals diet heavily to get ready for a competition (or photo shoot). A guy that weighs 225 lbs. at a competition may weigh 250-260 lbs. the rest of the time. A professional will drastically cut carbs, reduce calories consumed, and increase protein for 4-8 weeks before the competition. You can trim your body fat to around 6-9% to have that lean look while still remaining healthy. So give up any notions that you have about walking around looking like you are ready for competition every day.
2. It takes time. Lots of time!
The hardest part is seeing ads for supplements where a guy just seems to get ripped in a few weeks. It may be true but it also may not be typical for all people. So don't get mad when you run out and buy the expensive supplement and don't get the same results. Most of the supplements on the market are good quality items. But they are not for everyone in every situation. Refer to my SUPPLEMENTS area for some good money saving tips and information.
3. Treat it like it is a job.
For a lot of body builders it is a job. They make money off the competition, from sponsors, and by training others. So if you want the same results treat like it is your job. Show up everyday and do your best. The work never goes away. If you miss a day, make it up. Taking days off counts against your!
4. You have to make drastic changes.
It really depends on what results you are looking for. If you are really serious and want to be competitive then you will have to make big changes in your activities. Cut out the fast food, stay away from alcohol, cigarettes and other toxins, dedicate your time, change your diet.
